In this current time of limited gatherings, we strive to continue our mission with state-of-the-art Virtual Education Meetings to help dentists around the country continue learning in this most difficult time.
Martel Academy was founded over 10 years ago to provide dental education that is fundamental to all aspects of the successful comprehensive restorative dental practice. Each course will teach its participants the essential principles and skills required for total quality dental care. Every speaker has been hand selected and are experts in their fields.
Martel Academy can also completely customize every lecture to meet the needs of the specific audience and can fulfill any number of time requirements from 1-2 hour Virtual Programs to full and half day Live Sessions. Program Description:
In addition to the actual clinical procedures, diagnosis and treatment planning are essential elements for clinicians to consider in implant treatment. This program will illustrate some of the diagnostics needed prior to considering implant treatment. Treatment options will also be illustrated and discussed.

Program Description:
As the US population ages, we are seeing a greater number of patients with failing dentitions. With that many are looking for implant therapy. This presents a challenge on the proper treatment planning for each patient. In this course we will discuss the variety of treatment plans for long term success.

Course Description:
Implant dentistry is a part of our everyday practice today. There are numerous challenges when restoring an implant in the esthetic zone. The goal of this course is to aid the practitioner in achieving predictable and beautiful implant restoration in the anterior smile.

Advanced CIRC – 5 full-day program – Dr. Martel
Course Description:
The Advanced CIRC is a continuation of the Basic CIRC. It is a five-session course, which is most effectively held on a quarterly basis. The purpose of the course is to continue the educational process started in the CIRC with a heavy emphasis on treatment planning of dental implants, practice growth and development. Participants will be encouraged to bring cases to each session for treatment planning. The requirement for treatment planning at least one case still stands. In order for everyone to learn as much as possible, a definite hands-on approach is needed.
Goals and Objectives:
- Continuation of the CIRC
- To increase proficiency in identifying dental implant patients
- To increase proficiency in patient communication
- To increase proficiency in treatment planning dental implant patients

Digital Photography / Digital Image Management – Dr. Goldstein
(This course is lecture only. All aspects of digital photography are covered from camera selection and set-up, to computer software set-up demonstrating how to organize, find and share images)
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the course, the participant should be able to:

- Camera setup, lenses, flash systems, and detailed fundamental photography principals

Digital Asset Management – Dr. Goldstein
(Digital cameras are commonly used today in dentistry; however, little has been written in the dental literature regarding Digital Asset Management (DAM). This course will review the management and handling of digital images after they are captured in camera. This course is lecture and hands-on full day. Participants bring their own laptop computers (Mac or PC) and will learn how to set-up an organized patient file system as well as learn how to organize, find and share images using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom)
Learning Objectives:
- Dental Images need to be downloaded, organized, and cataloged quickly and efficiently. A complete workflow will be shown allowing the viewer to see how a professional system is set-up and utilized in a dental practice
- Each participant will set up their own computer and learn the software with sample files provided by Dr. Goldstein

The number of implants placed every year is steadily increasing. It is important for dental hygienist to have a defined protocol for implant assessment and early detection of peri-implant disease. This course will review biocompatible instrumentation and the latest non-invasive technology to safely and effectively debride the implant surface. The Biofilm Story – Janis Spiliadis, CRDH
Understanding the role of biofilm and its relationship to disease and health is crucial in treatment of dental disease. This course will review the current literature of biofilm therapy, a proven safe and effective method of biofilm management. We will discuss elements of biologic formation of biofilm and guided biofilm management with the use of glycine and erythritol and identify steps to implement them into clinical protocols.
Oral Abnormalities – Janis Spiliadis, CRDH
Early detection of oral abnormalities is key in the treatment of oral and oropharyngeal cancers. With the increasing incidence of these cancers, the role of the dental professional must go beyond examination of the dentition and periodontium. Yet, most dental patients today do not receive a thorough oral abnormalitie screening with routine dental exams. This course will review the steps of a thorough abnormalitie screening, educating patients on risk factors, and how to do a self exam. Adjunctive screening technology and technique will also be discussed. By increasing awareness in the oral abnormalities screening YOU could be the missing link to saving a life!
